Report: Mid-market industrial firms aren't prepared for disaster

While recent research indicates that the majority of businesses worldwide aren't prepared for a disaster, some industries are lagging even further behind in adopting security and online backup solutions - putting their information and operations, as well as those of their clients, at risk.

Mid​-market industrial firms are not ready for the worst


A recent report from consulting firm McGladrey revealed that while mid​-market industrial firms have invested necessary funds and time into business continuity, they have not acted accordingly when it comes to protecting their data.


The "2013 Manufacturing and Distribution Monitor" report, which surveyed 1,067 industry executives in the U.S., found that 68 percent of midsized firms believe their data to be at little or no risk. While this would be less disconcerting if these firms had comprehensive security as well as disaster and recovery solutions in place, respondents' definitions of risk underline the dangerousness of such attitudes.
