New Trends on Display
While many vendors are touting their mobile apps and social-media systems, there are varying levels of value and usability, experts warn. A record 58 new products will be introduced during next week's HR Technology® Conference.
The Expo Hall at the 2011 HR Technology® Conference won't just be a place for attendees to get their picture taken with a Donald Trump impersonator: New products and services will be introduced at the show by 58 vendors, the largest number of new announcements in the show's history.
Many of these new offerings will be built around mobile technology and social media. In fact, the way industry experts (and conference presenters) Josh Bersin and Ahmed Limam see it, these are two of the biggest technology developments in the HR space right now.
Mobile applications allow HR work to get done from anywhere, they say, while social-media tools let HR tap the potential of the Internet like never before. However, they warn, products that claim to be "mobile" or "social-media enabled" can be of widely varying value and usability.
The vendors announcing new mobile products include Dayforce and its Dayforce Mobile product; Fotopunch, a cloud-based time-and-attendance product with mobile capabilities; HireRight and its HireRight Applicant Center Mobile; Peoplefluent's Workforce Explorer, a native iPad application; Taleo Radar, a mobile app from Taleo; and new mobile HR apps from SAP.
