You want more predictions for Cloud? We’ve got ‘em!

You want more predictions for Cloud?  We’ve got ‘em!

Ok…CIO.com has ‘em, but you get the idea.

With the relentless expansion of cloud computing in the middle market (and elsewhere), along with the astonishing pace of innovation and transformation it has spurred, it would seem that one could make 100 predictions for 2014 in this space and the vast majority of them would come true.  Such is the fecundity of the cloud.

"This is going to be an especially exciting year for cloud computing."

Well, Bernard Golden has limited himself to 10 such predictions.  Golden, the senior director of Cloud Computing Enterprise Solutions group at Dell, has offered predictions on the direction of cloud computing for several years, and this year is no exception.  Writing at CIO.com, he states:

This is going to be an especially exciting year for cloud computing. The reason is simple: In 2014, the realization the cloud can spawn entirely new types of applications will come into general awareness. Expect to see many articles next year proclaiming the wondrousness of one cloud application or another and how cloud computing made such an application possible when it never could have existed before. Count on it.

His predictions are split between end-user and provider developments, and may surprise some people.  But given his track record of accuracy, his thoughts are well worth the read.
