It’s come to this: Raising taxes by Executive Order

Does the Constitution have any meaning anymore?

I saw the press conference with presidential Press Secretary Josh Earnest (an exquisite name for this White House) a couple of days ago, and was pretty stunned.  Apparently, President Obama is “very interested” in raising taxes via executive action.  The erstwhile lecturer on Constitutional Law must have been absent from his own classes the day they taught what the Constitution says about the taxing authority of the federal government.  (It’s right there in Article I: “All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives…”)

Given the GOP-run Congress’ recent capitulation on the President’s lawless implementation of a broad-based amnesty for illegal immigrants, it’s doubtful that they would rouse themselves to challenge such an action.  Which raises the obvious question:  Why have a Congress at all?  It’s just shameful, for both sides.

Here’s Fox Business host Neil Cavuto on the issue.
