Producer Prices rise unexpectedly in October

PPI rises 0.2%.

The seasonally-adjusted Producer Price Index for final demand fell 0.2% in October, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.  This followed a decline of 0.1% in September.

Analysts had expected a 0.1% decrease.

In the 12 months through October, producer prices increased 1.5%.

Producer prices excluding volatile food and energy costs rose only 0.1%, and have increased 1.6% in the 12 months through October.
