Producer Prices flat in August

PPI unchanged in August, following June’s 0.4% increase.

The seasonally-adjusted Producer Price Index for final demand was unchanged in August, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.  This followed a 0.1% increase in July.

In August, a 0.3-percent rise in prices for final demand services offset a 0.3-percent decrease in the index for final demand goods.

In the 12 months through August, producer prices increased 1.7%.

Producer prices excluding volatile food and energy costs were also unchanged.
