Middle market companies report optimism about growth

Survey by Chase suggests a positive six-month perspective.

According to a survey released today by Chase, U. S. businesses remain optimistic about their financial performance this year. Eighty percent of middle market companies have a positive outlook for 2014, which is significantly improved from last year.

About 70% of executives expect higher sales, and more than half expect higher profits.

"Respondents continued to express confidence in the future of their companies and greater optimism about the national, global and local economies."

Optimism about the national economy is up 17% for middle market companies, rising to 54%.

Optimism about their local economy is even higher, with 63% of middle market companies expressing a positive view.
